Let all those who do justice and love mercy say amen

Dr Lowery's benediction flew right over my head like a flock of birds today. I had NO idea what that was. I have now familiarized myself with something other than the first 4 lines of that hymn. The end, however, I TOTALLY got. AMEN!

For more commentary, [livejournal.com profile] ladysisyphus breaks the opening prayer and the benediction down for us a little more. The comments are good too-- her f-list is good people!

I actually got to church late on Sunday, so that third stanza was the *only* one that I sang then, so the words hit me immediately. :) I think the benediction was my favorite part.

Thanks for the link to the commentary.

Also, Jon Stewart just expanded the final rhyming to be a bit more inclusive:
"When blue can get in too,
When puce can be set loose,
When we rise above the minutiae of fuschia,
When orange... screw orange!"
